New CAS/TZXDuino firmware

New firmware.

TZXDuino 1.15.3
Adapted the MAXDuino ID19 code and TurboMode for ZX80/81. To access Turbo Mode for ZX80/81 and Electron please switch Turbo Mode On in the menu
Also added UEF Chunk 117 which allows for differing baudrates in BBC UEFs.
Added a Spectrum Font for OLED 1306 users converted by Brendan Alford. Option added to userconfig.h
Added File scrolling by holding up or down buttons. By Brendan Alford.

    I tried to update but I get these errors on the Arduino IDE:

    Arduino: 1.8.12 (Windows 10), Board: "Arduino Nano, ATmega328P (Old Bootloader)"

    Sketch uses 28626 bytes (93%) of program storage space. Maximum is 30720 bytes.
    Global variables use 1542 bytes (75%) of dynamic memory, leaving 506 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2048 bytes.
    Low memory available, stability problems may occur.
    An error occurred while uploading the sketch

    This report would have more information with
    "Show verbose output during compilation"
    option enabled in File -> Preferences.

    Can you help?

    1. Unfortunately that does not show what the error is but the sketch at 93% is a bit large. Should be 91% so you may have some incorrect settings in your userconfig.h

      What type of screen are you using?

  2. Thanks for the quick answer. After some tries, and using a different USB, I managed to do the update, so... false alarm. Thanks again for the answer and for creating TZXDuino!

    1. As I have discussed with you several times in the past, the fonts are that size for a reason and memory space is very limited. Using bigger fonts would use up the available memory. I suggest that rather than an OLED1306 you should use a 1602 LCD.

  5. hi. Is it possible adjust the volume output level on this firmware? i am using it on a tzxduino zaxon. 1.0v

    i read that the first time. volume. level should be adjusted but dont know how or where?

    only a few games loads and other gets errors during loading.

    1. The volume control is mostly used for the Arduitape as WAV playback can be finicky with some computers. When we moved on to CAS/TZXDuino we carried on using the same amplifier module even though some believe it is not necessary and even those that use the LM386 chip to amplify decided that a volume pot is not necessary. The latter is the case with the Zaxon TZXDuino.
      In my experience the pot is useful as not all retro computers of the same make and model work the same so it can be useful to have to adjust the volume level.

      If you are using TZXDuino 1.15.3 however I introduced a bug that meant that some TZX files and O and P files do not have adequate volume and there is now an updated Firmware TZXDuino 1.17 which has fixed this bug and added the ability to play ORIC TAP files.

TZXDuino Firmware 1.16, 1.17, and an updated TZXDuino Instruction Manual

  TZXDuino 1.16 In TZXDuino 1.15.3 I added a bug that lowered the volume of some Spectrum TZX files and all ZX80/81 TZX, O, and P files so they didn't work for many people. I fixed this for 1.16. You can download TZXDuino 1.16 from here.   TZXDuino 1.17 The MAXDuino team added ORIC TAP playback functionality to their firmware which I have adapted to TZXDuino. I don't have an Oric Atmos to test it on so I have been recording the playback and loading on Oricutron and everything I have tried has worked. Obviously things may be different on a real machine. Team MAXDuino have also added a speed up function for Oric TAP files which I will add to TZXDuino 1.18 but so far I have been unable to get it to work correctly. And Now For Something Completely Amazing.

 When Andrew Beer and I came up with this idea the intention was for people to build their own and many people have but once in a while someone comes up with something so amazing it really needs to be shared. JamHamster came up with the idea of fitting a TZXDuino in a cassette. Originally it was powered by USB and had a 3.5mm Ear socket but it looked amazing. Then he added a battery so that it was self powered. Then he added a head from a CD to cassette adapter. Then he added a switch under that head so that when you press play on the Cassette Recorder it plays the file you've selected. And the TZXCassette was born Because he is a great guy he's also uploaded the instructions on how to build one to Github and you can download the instructions and build your own. Now at the moment there is no REM control it may not work as well with a CPC 464 as it does with with a Spectrum +2 but it is a stunning piece of electrical engineering and a work of art in my opinion.
